Mobicon is proud to announce The Bay Area Food Bank has been selected as this year's charity! The Bay Area Food Bank's mission statement reads:
The Bay Area Food Bank, working through member organizations and special programs, will provide nutritious food to meet the challenge of feeding people who are hungry as a result of personal crisis or disaster. The Bay Area Food Bank will educate the public regarding domestic hunger, proper nutrition and related issues.
The Bay Area Food Bank, a member of The United Way and America's Second Harvest, is a nonprofit organization 501(c)(3), privately operated, which solicits, collects, stores, and distributes edible surplus food. They serve a 21 county service area which includes the eight southern-most counties in Mississippi, all of Coastal Alabama and the four western Counties in the Florida Panhandle; the area from DeFuniak Springs, Florida to the Mississippi/Louisiana state line.They serve over 650 charitable, nonprofit tax-exempt organizations that provide food without charge to the ill, needy, children, elderly, and homeless. Churches, halfway houses, senior citizen groups, community centers, foster homes, and disaster relief agencies benefit.
